Flying paws exists specifically to help rescue, family, or companion animals in need. Flying Paws is not a replacement for ground transportation but an additional resource when time or circumstances do not allow for ground transportation. Animals need to be of a size and weight that fits comfortably into a small plane. They must be in a safe, secure environment before flight arrangements can be made. Detailed veterinary instructions and / or medication and documentation must accompany injured or ill animals for the duration of the journey to their destination. Flying Paws will NOT transport to any KILL, PET STORE, RESEARCH or BREEDING facility. Flying Paws documentation and authorization including state health certificate and proof of current rabies vaccination must be completed and/or verified by the organization requesting transport. NEW: Conditions of Transport Flying Paws will be responsible for the transport of an animal from airport to airport. Responsibility for any ground transportation, overnight fostering or long term fostering is the responsibility of the rescue requesting the transport and must be arranged 48 hrs in advance of the transport with notification of the persons involved. Long transports present special challenges. Transports of over 500 miles require special planning and may require ground transportation for intermediate stops. Flying Paws has as its mission to provide emergency transport for companion animals in rescue through the use of volunteer pilots who fly their own planes. We do not replace ground transportation which must remain the primary method of moving animals to safe environments and forever homes. NEW: U.S. State and Territory Animal Import Regulations These contain the latest regulations on interstate movement of animals. These files are presented by the United States Department of Agriculture: Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service: Veterinary Services ( USDA:APHIS:VS ) but are written and maintained by each State. For clarification on any of the rules and regulations, contact the State veterinarian. They are listed within each State file and in the OFFICIAL file (Click Here to Go to the U.S. State and Territory Animal Import Regulations.) If you are going to transporting an dog or cat, with Flying Paws, these regulations are the minimum requirements which must be met.
