A Woman Saves 100 Dogs From Being Eaten at a Festival in China

Animals can demonstrate, without using words, when they don’t feel well or something hurts. To know if your cat has a fever, you should pay attention to the signals it gives you and especially to your attitude changes. We tell you more about this article.

Does my cat have a fever?

Feline body temperature ranges from 38 to 39 ° C. When this mark is exceeded, the cat is considered to have a fever and that may be due to a disease, infection or health problem.

Without having to take the temperature with a thermometer, something that can be complicated when the pet is sick or very arises, you can pay attention to their attitudes to determine if they have a fever:

1. It hides

It is true that cats love to get into quiet places like under the bed or at the table, but if they have a fever they will not want to leave for anything in the world (neither food nor toys). In some cases, they can hide in places where it is difficult for them to leave without help and will not want to be in contact with people or other animals.

2. Changes in vocalization

Cats are very ‘loud’ in the sense that they use different tones to express themselves. Some may become completely silent and calm when they have a fever, but others spend hours meowing and screaming without pausing. In either case, it is an alert for the owner.

3. Has a dry nose

This can also give us a clue as to what happens with our pets. A healthy cat has a wet nose (the same goes for dogs). But when something bad happens, it will be dry and sometimes hot.

4. Has less vitality

The felines usually spend many hours a day sleeping, that is not a novelty. But the truth is that in some moments of the day, especially at night, they ‘wake up’ to play, eat, sniff around the house, etc.

When a cat has a fever, it will stay in its bed without moving, with irritated eyes, not wanting to move or an iota. He will be down, without strength and apathetic.

Take the test by showing something that can usually get your attention, such as a toy or something that makes noise. Shake a bag, throw your favorite ball close … if you don’t make the effort to catch it or raise your head in a state of alertness, you may be sick.

5. Eat less

You can realize this by analyzing the amount of feed you left in the feeder and what you find hours later. A sick cat will refuse food, even the one he likes best, for example, wet feed.

Also, consider whether or not you drink water. It is very important that you are continuously hydrated, and especially if you have a fever. Do your best to at least ingest the minimum.

6. Becomes aggressive

It is another of the signs that indicate that something bad happens with your cat, especially if it is affectionate or playful. Aggression is the animal’s way of defending itself, and when it feels sick everything seems like an attack. Therefore, you can try to bite or scratch, meow or bristle your hair. He will avoid contact with you in any way.

7. Do not clean

One of the clear signs that the pet is sick or something hurts is that it stops being hygienic, something fundamental in felines. If you do not clean, lick or clean your hair, as usual, it is an indicator of fever or illness.

8. Vomiting or having diarrhea

Many feline diseases that cause fever also cause vomiting or diarrhea. You should check your litter box or the surroundings of your bed to find these remains. You may also not try to cover your debris with stones or sand as usual.
